The tragic death of a young Fort Campbell soldier, Pfc. Katia Duenas Aguilar, has been underscored by a harrowing detail released from an autopsy report. The documents reveal that Duenas Aguilar, who was just 23 years old, suffered nearly 70 stab wounds. Her lifeless body was found in her Tennessee home in May, just nearby the Army post where she was stationed.
Fox17 reported on this case and noted that Duenas Aguilar enlisted in the Army in 2018 and joined Fort Campbell's 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. Tragically found deceased in her home on May 18, her family and the League of United Latin American Citizens have since offered a $55,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction, Fox17 details.
WSAZ echoed the grim determination made by the Montgomery County Medical Examiner's Office, stating that she was victim to 68 stab wounds concentrated on her neck and upper body. Since discovered, no arrests have been made in the homicide. "We are stunned by the death of Pfc. Duenas-Aguilar," Lt. Col. Tony Hoefler, spokesperson for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, told WSAZ. "In the meantime, we will continue to cooperate with Army and local investigative authorities on this matter."
Clarksville Now released details from the autopsy report indicating that Duenas Aguilar's injuries included at least 55 stab wounds and 13 incised wounds. Dr. Brianne Flynn, a Nashville forensic pathologist, concluded that these sharp force injuries, predominantly located on her neck, resulted in severing the carotid artery. Adding to this tragic narrative, Duenas-Aguilar's blood alcohol concentration was reported to be 0.161, and her system contained Gamma-Hydroxybutyric Acid (GHB), a Schedule I controlled substance, according to the autopsy report obtained by Clarksville Now.
