Fort Lauderdale residents along NE 25th Avenue should brace for some disruption as city crews gear up to install new sewer pipes using an underground, trenchless method. The scheduled work is set to happen within a 24-hour window from 7 a.m. on Monday, July 15 through 7 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, according to an update from the City of Fort Lauderdale.
The construction will affect driveway access for homes on the west side of NE 25th Avenue, numbered from 4725 to 4501. Those needing to come and go during the hours of the install should plan to park on NE 21st Avenue, west of NE 25th Avenue, as per the city's instructions. Erring on the side of accessibility, the city has arranged golf cart shuttles to ferry residents between the temporary parking area and their houses. Residents looking to use this shuttle service should text Alejandra Suarez at 305-775-5370 with their address and the number of passengers, as stated in the City of Fort Lauderdale's press release.
Anticipating further queries or for residents needing special arrangements for the golf cart shuttle, these individuals are encouraged to reach out to Suarez as soon as possible to discuss their situation. As mentioned in the city’s statement, NE 25th Avenue will remain open to local traffic only between NE 48th Lane and the Coral Ridge Country Club, with this expected to be the case until late 2024. With traffic control personnel on hand, disruptions are being managed, and local drivers are being rerouted via NE 24th Terrace, NE 49th Street, and Bayview Drive.
The city emphasizes the importance of heeding posted signs and exercising caution when navigating the area during the project. Moreover, traffic control personnel are available to assist locals and ensure that the construction process impacts the community as minimally as possible. For a clearer understanding of the work being conducted and the associated traffic impacts, residents and visitors can consult an updated flyer made available by the City of Fort Lauderdale.
