The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has taken charge of a case involving an officer-involved shooting in Morrow, according to official statements. On the evening of the incident, a dispute erupted among patrons at La Trojas Cantina on Mt. Zion Road in Clayton County, with 26-year-old Keon Devon Christian from McDonough at the center of the confrontation.
Authorities were alerted to the dispute after Christian reportedly stepped out to the restaurant's patio and an argument ensued. As Morrow Police Department officers arrived at the scene in response to a 911 call, they found Christian armed. A confrontation escalated, during which Christian discharged a firearm, hitting an officer in his vest. The officers then pursued Christian, exchanging gunfire, which resulted in his injury. A firearm was retrieved near where Christian was apprehended.
Subsequent to the shootout, the Morrow Police Department has charged the suspect with aggravated assault on a peace officer and criminal attempt to commit murder.
