Hillsborough County is on the lookout for neighborhoods that are bringing their A-game in fostering healthy, safe, and community-driven environments. Inspired by the successes of the previous year's winners. Calusa Trace Homeowners Association, Keystone Civic Association, and Summerfield Master Community Association, the county is once again rallying the troops for the Neighborhood Awards. According to a recent announcement on the Hillsborough County, Florida Government website, the annual accolades are up for grabs, with a deadline for applications set for August 14 at 5 p.m.
As part of the eligibility criteria, organizations vying for the honors must be included in the Neighborhood Roster before they toss their hats in the ring. For the nitty-gritty, eligible groups can submit an application for each of the three categories:, Healthy Neighborhoods, Safe Neighborhoods, and Engaged Neighborhoods, all emphasizing different slices of communal excellence. The standout neighborhood, the one with the project that resonates the most will snag not only the title 'Neighborhood of the Year' but also a neat $500 prize.
The Hillsborough County initiative shines a spotlight on the hard-working local associations pushing to elevate their neighborhoods above the status quo. These awards not only serve as a pat on the back but also as a stimulus for ongoing improvements, fostering a competitive spirit grounded in the pursuit of the common good. Each category hones in on specific community accomplishments such as stellar environmental health initiatives, strategies to bolster local safety, or efforts to engage residents in the civic sphere.
The award seeks to commend the most 'impactful project' from July 2023 to July 2024. The culmination of these efforts not only fosters a feeling of camaraderie but also palpably enhances the lived experiences of the residents within these communities.
