A collection of kittens, inexplicably abandoned in a shoebox, has prompted an investigation by animal control officers after being discovered at Williamson Medical INTRODUCTION TO Site. According to WSMV, the box of "free kittens" was left at the medical institution and was stumbled upon by a passerby who brought them to the Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC).
The kittens are now in the safety of a foster home and will be up for adoption within a few weeks, WCAC explained. Abandoning animals is not only cruel but illegal, "and our animal control officers have started an investigation," as stated in their Facebook post, which was reported by WKRN. The incident has also highlighted a shortage at the center, which is in need of digital food scales to track the daily weight of kittens like these while they are under foster care.
To assist with the care of the young felines, the public is encouraged to contribute. "Right now, our supply of scales is very low. If you would like to help by donating one, the scales are found in local stores and on our wishlist," WCAC mentioned, nudging the community to support through tangible actions. Additionally, the Animal Center has put out a call for assistance, urging anyone willing to donate a digital food scale to either find one locally or purchase one from their Amazon wishlist.
Furthermore, WCAC seeks to remind residents of a standing initiative aimed for the well-being of community cats. "We would like to remind everyone that for Williamson County residents, we have a kitten rescue and rehome program and will spay or neuter any cat that spends any time outside for free," relayed a WCAC announcement. This program provides a duly humane alternative to abandonment, stressing on the accessible services provided by WCAC to prevent future cases of negligence and ensure the animals' welfare.
