The Embarcadero area of San Francisco is getting a tasty addition with the opening of Joyride Pizza's flagship location at Pier 1, next to the iconic Ferry Building. Building on the momentum of their rapidly growing Detroit-style pizza business, brothers Jesse and Joshua Jacobs, formerly of Samovar Tea Lounge fame, are making a significant bet on the revival of the downtown scene by offering a wide array of culinary delights catering to both local families and the late-night crowd.
According to a report by Eater SF, Joyride Pizza has been on a steady rise since its inception in 2021. With several standalone spots and collaborations with local breweries already under its belt, the Pier 1 setting is designed to exude a unique atmosphere with its all-day format. "The concept is Joyride Pizza all day, from early morning to late night," shared Jesse Jacobs, signaling the ambitions to provide the Bay Area with high-quality, accessible comfort food that can be enjoyed on-site or on the go.
Patrons can expect the same beloved menu options at the Pier 1 venue, with additions that reflect both local tastes and an innovative spirit. The brothers teased their customers with a sneak peek of new flavors on Joyride Pizza's official Instagram account, announcing offerings like breakfast pizzas and Buffalo milk soft serve apart from the full roster of pizza, salads, and snacks. Joshua Jacobs said, as per Eater SF, "basically everything is the same, but the crust is less thick," regarding the new thin-crust pizza option that sits alongside Detroit-style staples complete with caramelized cheese crusts.
Beyond the pizza, Joyride introduces loaded tater tots and a selection of five salads fit for those in search of lighter fare – from arugula and blue cheese to the traditional Caesar salad, this is ideal for the Embarcadero joggers Jesse Jacobs described the soon-to-be-launched breakfast as comprising an "omelet, tater tots, Andytown coffee, and fresh-squeezed orange juice." The beverage options are just as lucrative, with house cocktails like Negronis and spritzes, local brews, and wines making up a sizeable menu that also promises future expansions, including nonalcoholic alternatives such as artisan sodas and kombucha, as cited by Eater SF.
Joyride Pizza's bold move to open in such a prominent location reflects the Jacobs brothers' confidence in the city's resurgence. "We’re thrilled to be part of the resurgence of life and economy in San Francisco," Jesse Jacobs exclaimed, as per Eater SF.
