A somber silence hovers over Old Hickory Lake following a fatal jet ski accident that claimed the life of a juvenile and injured an adult on Tuesday. According to the WSMV, the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office reported deputies were called to the scene near Creighton Lane around 4:30 p.m. where a juvenile was discovered critically injured.
Despite efforts to save the youngster, with deputies administering life-saving measures before the arrival of paramedics, the juvenile later died at a local hospital, the identity remains undisclosed, pending notification of the next of kin. An adult involved in the incident was also hospitalized for medical observation, their current medical status has not been shared publicly as of yet.
Investigations into the circumstances leading to the tragedy are underway, spearheaded by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Fox 17 quotes Captain Scott Moore of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, "Deputies on the scene performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived."
The TWRA will serve as the primary agency delving into the incident to provide answers and potentially preventive measures to avoid future such mishaps. Local news will continue to monitor the situation for updates as the investigation progresses, according to WKRN.
