Those faded white tees stuffed in your dresser are about to get a second life thanks to the Kingsport Public Library's latest community venture. As reported by The City of Kingsport, Tennesse, the library is throwing what's dubbed the Sunshine Tie-Dye event, converting Glen Bruce Park into a technicolor wonderland, or close to it, on July 23.
The gathering is as low barrier as they come, no fees, no need for reservations, and they're even supplying the dye, however, supplies, as life often reminds us, aren't infinite.
Highlighting the event's free nature does more than just draw a crowd, as the official announcement details. It's not just about splashing some color around, participants are encouraged to flaunt their new threads on social media and tag the library, allowing for a digital showcase of the community's creative output.
For those interested in more than just occasional dye jobs, the library offers a variety of events. Please visit www.kingsportlibrary.org or call 423-229-9489. The exciting event starts at 6 p.m., so bring an old tank top or tote and give it a fresh look with a library twist.
