A 39-year-old man, identified as Jacob Brown, faces multiple charges following a reported shooting incident in Knoxville's Mechanicsville area, specifically at the Ridgebrook Apartments, according to local police. WVLT detailed the sequence of events, noting that the incident occurred on Monday night after Brown allegedly engaged in an altercation with three other individuals.

Brown is accused to have fired a gun towards the group and when approached by responding officers, he retreated into an apartment and, disobeying officer commands to halt, he attempted an escape by jumping out of the second-floor window WATE reports.

Knoxville Police Department officials later located the suspect hiding behind a building within the apartment complex and retrieved the firearm allegedly used in the discharge of gunfire, as shared in a statement obtained by WBIR.

Brown's apprehension has led to charges against him for aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a felon, due to a previous felony conviction from a 2003 theft incident. The Knoxville Police Department has also alluded to Brown's extensive criminal background in the communications regarding his arrest. “Outstanding work by West District officers, who quickly apprehended a suspect who allegedly shot at multiple individuals outside of the Ridgebrook Apartment complex in the overnight hours,” lauded the KPD.
