This win, represents the second millionaire to emerge from the state's lottery in just the span of a week. Previously, a resident of Powder Springs claimed a $2 million prize on July 24.
While the Lake City winner missed out on the jackpot, which was an estimated $144 million with a cash option of $68.6 million, their winnings remain substantial. The odds to snag the jackpot are steep, at 1 in 292,201,338, but Georgian players have recently been defying those odds. "It marks the latest in a string of big lottery wins in the Peach State," noted the Miami Herald.
With no grand prize winner this round, the Powerball jackpot is climbing to an estimated $154 million for the next drawing scheduled for tomorrow. Aside from the recent million-dollar winners, a Peachtree Corners resident won $50,000 in the drawing on July 27.
