While fireworks lit the sky, Lake Havasu City Police were lighting up the streets with a sweep of arrests and traffic stops over the July 4th holiday weekend. According to a report released by the Lake Havasu City Police Department, this year's festivities from July 4 to July 7 saw a total of 1,014 calls for service, resulting in 57 arrests. Of those arrested, 28 individuals found themselves booked into the LHCPD jail, while another 29 received citations before being released, the inclusivity of the weekend’s statistics is reflected in the fact that six juveniles also found themselves entangled in the lawful procedures, referred and then released back into the warm embrace of their guardians. Part of the Police Department's efforts included traffic enforcement that was seemingly omnipresent, bolstered by a grant from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, which resulted in four DUI arrests and the engagement of 381 drivers in civil traffic stops throughout the local area.
