The Vegas Pet Rescue Project is offering a substantial reward in the hopes of locating information about a severe case of animal cruelty that led to the death of an English Bulldog named Reba. The dog was found taped inside a tote bag amid sweltering temperatures near the Boulevard Mall last week. Initially discovered by passersby who heard her whimpers, the severely distressed animal was then rushed to Veterinary Emergency Group, suffering from heat stroke.
Despite the efforts of veterinary staff, Reba did not survive, succumbing to sudden cardiac arrest on Saturday due to a blood-clotting disorder that developed as an aftermath of the heat stroke and shock. As expressed by Jamie Gregory, founder of Vegas Pet Rescue, to FOX5, the incident's only slight relief was that Reba's passing was quick and painless.
Lindsey Pinapfel, a volunteer foster with the Vegas Pet Rescue Project, conveyed the horror of the act to 8NewsNow, stating, "Anybody who’s sick and twisted enough to put an innocent life of an animal inside a container with no ability to save itself, duct taped, leave it next to a dumpster that we’re only lucky that somebody happened to hear her cries."
Originally, a $5,000 reward was offered by the organization, but that amount has since grown significantly with the help from anonymous donors and supporters. The current reward stands at $21,500 for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for Reba's plight.
