Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has reported the arrest of a third suspect in relation to a fatal shooting that occurred on Prairie Falcon Road in May. Monroe Jones, 52, was detained on July 12, 2024, by the Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) and is currently held at the Clark County Detention Center on an open murder charge. The CAT, a collaborative effort featuring personnel from the FBI, LVMPD, Henderson, and North Las Vegas Police Departments, works within the LVMPD's Major Violators Bureau to locate and apprehend suspects.
The initial incident, which sparked the ongoing investigation, took place on May 18, 2024, when LVMPD received calls regarding a shooting that led to the discovery of three victims. According to the LVMPD's original press release, officers found one male victim deceased at the scene, while the two others suffered non-fatal injuries. The LVMPD Homicide Section promptly initiated investigative procedures into the matter.
Detectives piecing together the case believe the victims encountered several unidentified individuals before the shooting took place. Following a physical fight between one victim and the assailants, gunfire was exchanged. The suspects managed to flee the scene before law enforcement arrived. Despite the recent arrest, the LVMPD Homicide Section continues to delve deeper, piecing together the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the deceased victim's identity, along with the official cause and manner of their death.
