Last Tuesday's routine traffic stop on Las Positas Road near First Street in Livermore escalated when the Livermore Police discovered more than a vehicle code violation. According to an announcement on the Livermore Police Department's official page, the stop led to the arrest of 31-year-old Bradley Grassechi after an unregistered loaded pistol was found in his Kia Sportage.

The police's initial concern was a mere driver's registration, suspended for a lack of insurance. A deeper probe revealed an active Gun Violence Restraining Order against Grassechi, prohibiting him from possessing firearms. Upon searching his vehicle, officers found that he had an unregistered loaded pistol. Further investigation prompted police to obtain a search warrant for Grassechi's residence, where they discovered an unserialized short-barreled rifle and ammunition.
Grassechi is now facing several serious charges, which include possession of narcotics for sale, possession of a firearm while prohibited, and possessing an assault rifle, among others. The arsenal found with Grassechi signifies a stark violation of the law, especially given the Gun Violence Restraining Order in place.
The Livermore Police Department has detailed the array of weapons retrieved, which includes a concealed loaded firearm, a short-barreled rifle, a ghost gun, a large capacity magazine, and an assault rifle.
