The City of Fort Lauderdale has rolled out a comprehensive plan to overhaul the stormwater system in partnership with Man-Con, Inc. The project, set to kick off on Monday, July 22, aims to improve the neighborhood's infrastructure by introducing 21,000 feet of stormwater pipe, 90 new drainage structures, and a brand-new sewer pump station, among other enhancements. According to information from the City's announcement, the completion date is pegged for late 2026, with work happening predominantly weekdays between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The endeavor is designed to literally reshape the neighborhood's landscape. To fully realize this upgrade will also require the reconstruction of swale areas, relocation of water and sewer lines, and restoration of driveways and pavement. Trimmed trees will accommodate the new construction while aiming to maintain the neighborhood's aesthetic. However, despite the intention to streamline, the flow of daily life is set to widely get disrupted, with inevitable road closures and rerouted traffic—residents will need to prepare to significantly adjust their regular commute.
