Responders were dispatched to a reported group fight at 345 W. El Norte Pkwy at approximately 1:42 PM, arriving at an empty scene. The story developed when, shortly after the police arrived, a local hospital alerted authorities to a male victim with stab wounds who is now in critical condition.
After the officers reached Palomar Medical Center, it was confirmed that the injured man was connected to the earlier fight, according to the official police statement. However, the police investigation is hindered by the lack of suspects and witnesses, with no suspect description immediately available and no one currently in custody.
The Escondido Police Department is actively investigating the possibility of gang involvement.
