Authorities rushed to an apartment complex off Woodlake Parkway near Old Seguin Road. Bexar County Sheriff's deputies responded to a harrowing call on Tuesday when a man informed 911 that he had shot his wife, claiming self-defense after what he described as a domestic dispute. The call led to the discovery of a woman fighting for her life and a child, fortunately unharmed, left in the wake of potential domestic violence.
As reported by KENS5, the man was subsequently detained at a local gas station while his wife was whisked away to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The very fabric of what is presumed to be a domestic partnership was rent asunder with the firing of a gun—a gun that was stated to be in the hands of the woman's husband.
The gravity of the situation is underlined by the presence of the couple's child, who was found unharmed inside the apartment. No injuries were sustained by the child. FOX San Antonio highlighted that upon authorities' arrival, the discovered woman was not breathing and immediate life-saving measures were deployed. As the inquiry into the shooting unfolds, the man’s claim of self-defense remains a central focus for investigators.
The Bexar County Sheriff's Office has yet to release additional details on this ongoing investigation.
