
Early Sunday morning, a man was fatally shot during an altercation in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. According to the Chicago Tribune, the incident occurred around 4:15 a.m. on the 7600 block of South Halsted Street where a man, 32, was engaged in an altercation with two other individuals.
During the fight, the 32-year-old man was shot multiple times. Chicago Sun-Times reports that he was quickly taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was sadly pronounced dead. The circumstances surrounding the shooting have yet to unravel as the other two men involved managed to swiftly flee the scene in a dark gray Ford Escape.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting, and the identity of the deceased has not been released. Police have not reported any other injuries associated with the event. The motivation behind this violent encounter remains to be understood, as detectives from Area Two are actively investigating the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life.
