Officials in Southeast Shelby County have launched a manhunt for 28-year-old Jaylan McCollins, whom they say is wanted for a double homicide that occurred early Monday morning. According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, McCollins is considered "armed and dangerous" and measures 5’9” weighing 175 pounds. The tragic incident unfolded in the 7600 block of Newfound Gap Road near East Shelby Drive, within the Pinnacle Point neighborhood.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office stated that deputies responded to the scene around 5:15 a.m., where a woman was found deceased, and a man was critically injured due to gunshot wounds. Despite promptly being taken to Regional One Hospital, the man later succumbed to his injuries. The Sheriff's Office is now actively seeking information that could help apprehend McCollins swiftly. The details surrounding the shooting remain sparse, but the incident has undoubtedly sent a ripple of concern through the local community.
