A fugitive sought for a fatal shooting in Memphis has been captured, as Action News 5 reported, following a coordinated search by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Roland Robinson, was apprehended on Monday in the South Memphis area after being on the run since the June 17 incident.
According to details shared by WREG, Robinson had a warrant issued for his arrest on July 9 on charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder, which stem from an incident at the Summit Park Apartments where Cory Allen was found deceased from gunshot wounds and another man was targeted but unharmed, this sequence of events initiated a manhunt that culminated with the aid of a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office K9 named Marko who discovered Robinson hiding inside a closet.
The arrest took place early Monday morning after U.S. Marshals tracked the fugitive to a home in Longview Heights, where Robinson was found concealed in a closet. The capture involved the USMS Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force, in partnership with local law enforcement authorities, who had been following leads since adopting the case shortly after the warrant was issued.
FOX13 Memphis added that Robinson was evaluated by medical personnel immediately following the arrest and was then taken to the Shelby County Jail, Robinson, now in custody, awaits judicial proceedings to address the charges leveled against him, that reflect upon the serious nature of the allegations, his potential role in a moment of violence that tore through the fabric of the Whitehaven community.
No bond has been set for Robinson as of yet. The circumstances of June 17 left one man dead and a community grappling with the aftermath.
