
A workplace dispute took a violent turn when a man was accused of shooting his former colleague during a lunch break in southeast Shelby County. Kenneth Shaw, 27, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and employing a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony, according to reports from Action News 5 and WREG.
The incident, which occurred just after noon on June 24, unfolded outside a gas station on South Mendenhall Road where two men, with one being the victim, were said to be on their lunch break when Shaw reportedly arrived at the scene in a red Pontiac. After pulling out a gun, Shaw is accused of firing four shots, as confirmed by Memphis Police, one hitting the man in his left shoulder, "Kenneth Shaw, 27, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, and employment of a firearm," as per an Action News 5 Facebook post.
Following the shooting, the injured worker was quickly attended to and transported to Regional One Hospital where he received treatment for his non-critical injuries. The swift response by the Memphis Police officers who came to the South Mendenhall Road address helped secure the area and aid the victim.
