A man sitting in his living room near Sussex Lane and Walnut Grove Road heard several gunshots on August 6 before bullets came crashing through his window, according to Memphis police. No one was hurt, but investigators are now searching for four suspects connected to the shooting, which happened in the Cordova neighborhood.
Memphis police responded to an aggravated assault call in the area, as reported by WMC Action News 5. The victim told officers he was sitting inside his living room when he heard gunfire, and the bullets then came through the window of the occupied home. Police have not said whether the house or the victim was specifically targeted, and that question remains unresolved.
Investigators have released descriptions of all four suspects but have not disclosed their identities. The first suspect is described as a thin-built man with shoulder-length dreadlocks who was last seen shirtless, wearing gray shorts and black socks. The second is also described as thin-built, with a short haircut, last seen shirtless in gray shorts and white socks.

The third suspect is described as a heavyset man who was wearing multicolored shorts, no shirt, and no shoes. The fourth suspect stands out from the others: police describe her as a woman wearing a bonnet and a light-colored two-piece swimsuit. It is unclear from available reporting what role, if any, each suspect played in the shooting or whether security footage from the Cordova suburb has helped investigators narrow down leads.
Case Falls Under Serious Tennessee Felony Statutes
Under Tennessee Code Annotated § 39-13-103, firing a gun into an occupied home is classified as a Class C felony reckless endangerment, carrying between 3 and 15 years in prison and fines up to $10,000, according to legal guidance published by The McDaniel Law Firm. The shooting adds to a string of gunfire incidents reported around the Walnut Grove Road corridor in recent months. Just hours before this story published, Hoodline reported that shots were fired near Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, where officers searched the parking lot for evidence and found no injuries. Weeks earlier, Hoodline also detailed how an off-duty Shelby County Sheriff's deputy was arrested nearby in Cordova after allegedly threatening a woman and threatening a shootout with officers, a case that led to him being relieved of duty following his arrest.
