Memphis Police Department is currently on the hunt for five male suspects following a dramatic shootout at a Frayser apartment complex, as reported by Action News 5. The incident, which occurred in the early morning of July 14, erupted in an exchange of gunfire involving several suspects and the occupants of a black vehicle passing through the complex located at the intersection of Woodcliff Drive and Shady Vista.
According to WREG, the hail of bullets resulted in three apartments being struck all of which were occupied at the time of the shooting, however, in what could only be termed a fortunate turn of events no physical injuries were reported among the residents inside. The Memphis Police have released detailed descriptions of the individuals believed to be involved, which include attire ranging from white sweatshirts and dark shorts to black tank tops and red or green backpacks.
Amidst this urgent search, FOX13 Memphis has released video footage showing the frightful moment when one suspect had to dodge bullets before returning fire, while another was seen jumping out of a white car to engage in the shooting; this visual narrative paints a stark picture of the danger that unfolded mere feet from where unsuspecting tenants lay in rest.
No arrests have been made at this point, but the investigation is active and ongoing, as MPD tries to piece together the sequence of events that led to this violent encounter in the otherwise still night, the police encourage individuals with any pertinent information to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH. The community, meanwhile, watches and waits, hoping that these descriptions and footage will help bring those responsible to justice and restore a semblance of peace to the streets of Frayser.
