One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two were rushed to a hospital in critical condition, according to Action News 5, which reported that the Memphis Police Department confirmed the shooting happened in Whitehaven. The surviving victims and the person killed were described by police as men in or around their early 20s, according to WREG. The station's report notes that investigators have not released further details about the victims' identities.
A dispatch alert from the app Citizen also flagged a person-shot report at 902 Whitehaven Lane just before 8 p.m. Thursday, describing it as an unconfirmed 911 caller report, per Citizen.
Investigation Ongoing, No Word on Charges

Thursday's shooting echoes an earlier incident at another Memphis park. In April 2024, a shooting at an unpermitted block party near Orange Mound Park left two people dead and an estimated six others injured, according to NBC News. Police in that case said as many as 300 people had gathered for the unsanctioned event, and initially reported 16 total victims before revising the count down to eight after discovering some people had been counted more than once.
No details have been released linking the two incidents, and the circumstances of Thursday's Whitehaven shooting remain under investigation.
