Residents of Miami Gardens are looking at the future site of what's poised to be a major community and economic boost with today's groundbreaking of the new Miami Gardens City Center. According to Local 10, the ceremony marked the beginning of construction for a mixed-use development set to include residences, entertainment venues, and job opportunities all centered in a 35-acre site.
The ambitious City Center aims to be not just a local hub but also a draw for the wider region, offering an innovative Formula One museum among its attractions. Oliver Gilbert, Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman and former Miami Gardens Mayor, has been instrumental in pushing the project forward. "I’ve been working with the city since I’ve been a county commissioner, because I understand that Miami Gardens deserves a place where their residents can go get nice restaurants, entertainment and they don’t have to leave their city," Gilbert told Local 10.
Backing these sentiments, current Mayor Rodney Harris was quoted pointing to the project's potential in transforming Miami Gardens into "one of the most prestigious cities in the whole United States." Job creation is a significant aspect of the development, with an upcoming construction fair aimed at connecting residents with job prospects on the project, as reported by Local 10.
Developers Immocorp Capital are steering the construction, expected to cost in the range of $400 million – $500 million. Amidst the slated residential units, hotels, and entertainment spaces, the project is seen as a keystone in enhancing the community's lifestyle. Mayor Harris shared this vision, asserting that the City Center would become more than just another development but a foundation for the city's future. "It’s about building a future for our community," Harris emphasized in a press release obtained by Hy-Lo News Miami. The construction fair is to be held on July 30 at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex, further cementing the project's commitment to local employment.
