A fatal police shooting in Miami has claimed the life of an armed man. According to WSVN, the incident occurred this afternoon near Southwest Fifth Avenue and Third Street after authorities were alerted to a man discharging a firearm into the air and toward a building.
City of Miami Police, responding to 911 calls, found themselves forced to swiftly act and open fire upon encountering the suspect, resulting in his death. The circumstances prompting the man's initial gunfire have yet to be made clear. The man, believed to be a resident of the same neighborhood, died at the scene as reported by social media updates. No officers were injured during the confrontation.

The area has been cordoned off, with traffic disruptions expected. Motorists are being directed to avoid the stretch between Southwest Fourth Avenue to Sixth Avenue from Southwest Third Street to Fifth Street which is currently closed off.
