The coach, who stepped down while on administrative leave, was the subject of investigations spurred by rumors that began circulating last fall. Despite earlier inquiries conducted by both the school district and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, which found no substantive evidence at that time, later developments have thrust the case back into the spotlight, according to FOX 2 Detroit.
Initially, when the allegations first surfaced no credible proof was presented, according to a statement released by the Monroe Public Schools. However, the situation escalated when on June 7th, the administration received new evidence, leading to swift action and the involvement of the sheriff's office again. "On June 7th, Monroe High School administration was provided with evidence that the rumors could be true. The Sheriff’s Office was immediately contacted and the coach was placed on administrative leave," the district communicated in a statement shared by WWJ Newsradio.
In a bid to maintain the integrity of the program and ensure the well-being of the students, Monroe Public Schools has acted promptly to fill the vacated coaching positions. Tryouts for the cheer team are expected to begin soon.
