A tragic incident occurred last Friday evening when an adult male motorcyclist was killed in a collision at a local intersection. According to the Haltom City Police Department, the fatal accident took place around 8:21 P.M. at the crossing of NE 28th Street and Higgins Lane.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the motorcyclist may have lost control of his bike before sliding toward a vehicle that was making a turn. After hitting the stationary vehicle, the rider continued sliding into an adjacent traffic lane where he was struck by an incoming vehicle. The accident did not result in any other reported injuries, "At this time, we have no reason to believe that a criminal act occurred," the Haltom City Police Department stated.
Responding to the scene, emergency services confirmed the individual’s fatality and the Haltom City Police Department's Traffic Unit has since been leading the ongoing investigation. The name of the motorcyclist has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin and further examination by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office.
The police have urged the community to show compassion, asking for respect towards the family of the deceased during their grieving process.
