A Muncie sex and romance shop was the scene of an unusual theft when a 44-year-old man reportedly ran off with a spinning dance pole. The clerk, confronted with this act of larceny, gave chase but was met with a physical response, pushed to the ground by the fleeing thief. As reported by FOX59, the man identified as Charles Koons was later apprehended by the Muncie Police Department.
The incident unfolded when Koons allegedly made away with the dance pole and found himself the focus of a brief pursuit. The episode concluded with Koons being located by police in the 1800 block of E. Cornell Avenue. A search of his vehicle revealed the stolen property in the back of his truck, and as CBS4Indy notes, Koons confessed to taking the "stripper pole," asserting he was willing to return it.
Consequent to these events, Koons faces serious legal repercussions. He was detained by authorities and is currently being held in the Delaware County Jail. The preliminary charge stands as a Level 3 felony for robbery resulting in injury, due to the altercation with the store clerk.
In addition to the robbery charge, Koons' interaction with law enforcement could add to his legal troubles. During his arrest, he allegedly resisted officers' attempts to secure him in handcuffs, a behavior that could garner him an additional charge of resisting law enforcement. This compounded situation shines a light on the complexities intertwined with a seemingly straightforward case of theft.
