A Naperville man is facing charges in a suspected domestic homicide following the death of his ex-wife, law enforcement officials report. Zokir S. Kudratov, 55, of the 2500 block of Saddlebrook Drive, was arrested and charged with two counts of First Degree Murder, a Class X Felony, according to information released by the Naperville Police Department.
Prosecutors allege that on the morning of July 6, an argument erupted between Kudratov and his ex-wife, which escalated to the point where Kudratov is accused of fatally stabbing her multiple times—both shared the same home but lived on different floors, it seems that emotions that day ran on a destructive course. Responding to the incident, the victim was transported to a local hospital yet despite the efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at 1:49 p.m., as detailed by the Police Chief, Robert Marshall.
In a brief statement given to the press, Chief Marshall extended a sober expression of condolence to the family of the woman whose life was traumatically cut short. “First and foremost, the entire Naperville Police Department sends our sincere condolences to the victim's family," he remarked.
Adding to the weight of the situation, Marshall acknowledged the harsh reality of such domestic incidents: “To say these incidents are some of the most challenging and heartbreaking in policing is an understatement,” the gravity of the situation echoed by the Chief's words while praising his team's response, “I commend our officers and investigators for their professionalism and diligence throughout this tragic situation,” and offering gratitude to the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office for their involvement, giving the notion that it does take a collaborative effort to wade through the aftermath of such a crime. Mr. Kudratov, who was initially held at the Naperville Police Department, has since been transferred to the Will County Jail and is awaiting a detention hearing set for July 10.
