A Nashville felon has found himself back in custody after Mt. Juliet police apprehended him for brandishing a stolen firearm in a public space. On Monday evening, around 6:50 p.m., the 21-year-old man, who has not yet been named, drew attention to himself in the parking lot of the Academy Sports on Pleasant Grove Road. This incident follows a previous encounter with the law, where the man had been on probation for an evading arrest involving a stolen vehicle and handgun, according to a news release from the WKRN News.

It was reported by WSMV News that the officer, stationed in an unmarked car, observed the individual recklessly waving the stolen gun, leading to his arrest. The firearm was identified as one stolen from an unlocked car in Nashville, earlier in the year. Meanwhile, an independent 911 call from another witness in the parking lot corroborated the sighting of the firearm being mishandled by the suspect.

Further complicating matters, the apprehended individual was reported to be purchasing a laser/light combo attachment for the firearm at the time of his arrest. Police confirmed the weapon was indeed stolen, and the suspect was promptly taken into custody. "We are grateful for our officers’ dedication to keeping MJ safe,” the Mt. Juliet Police expressed in their gratitude, as quoted by a press statement on social media and sourced by the Mt. Juliet Police's Twitter.

The series of events leading up to the arrest were rapid and fraught with peril as the individual brandished the stolen weapon publicly, raising imminent safety concerns for bystanders. At present, the charges the 21-year-old faces remain unspecified.
