
A routine Sunday morning at the Alta Lake Greenway trailhead spiraled into a homicide investigation after the Metro Nashville Police Department discovered an unresponsive woman with a "possible gunshot wound to the head." As reported by WKRN, the grim find was made around 10 AM; the victim was located off Dodson Chapel Road by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers employees.
The unidentified woman, thought to be in her 20s, was wearing dark pants and a pink bra, her hair styled in long braids although MNPD has stated there was no ID found on her body, the official MNPD X account released a brief description of the victim.
MNPD Homicide is investigating the fatal shooting of a woman found at 10 a.m. today at the Alta Lake Greenway trailhead off Dodson Chapel Rd. The victim is black, likely in her 20s. No I.D. Efforts to save the woman's life led to her being transported to the hospital where she later died, Nashville authorities have not disclosed additional circumstances surrounding the shooting or potential motives for the crime at this stage of the investigation.
