An 18-year-old man, Joshua Polledo-Negrin, faced charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in relation to a deadly shooting that occurred in October 2023, The Tennessean reports. Following an investigation by the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Homicide Unit, Polledo-Negrin surrendered to authorities on Wednesday.
During the incident on Gallatin Pike North at Anderson Lane, Shalena McCall, a 21-year-old who was sitting in the front seat of a Nissan Altima, was fatally shot. According to a press release from the department, obtained by WKRN, the indictment is the culmination of Metro detectives' investigative efforts into the event that led to McCall's death. The car, driven by 22-year-old Taylor McEwen, also took gunfire, resulting in injuries.
McEwen, who was also hit by gunfire, required treatment at Skyline Medical, as reported by WSMV. Despite being injured in the event, McEwen survived the attack. The details regarding the motive behind the shooting have not yet been made public.
Polledo-Negrin's arrest was noted particularly because he had previously been listed as one of Nashville's "Most Wanted" fugitives. Twilight had already set in when authorities arrived at the scene of the crime on the evening of Oct. 2, 2023, where the fatal incident occurred. Polledo-Negrin, after an indictment that publicly labeled him among the city's pursued, turned himself in voluntarily, according to authorities.
