Yesterday, a significant search effort was initiated in Barrington, New Hampshire, by state police units from New Hampshire and Massachusetts, focusing on a property connected to a missing person case that dates back over a decade. The case revolves around the disappearance of Leanne Redden, who was last seen on April 15, 2013, in Lynn, Massachusetts, as reported by NBC Boston. Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker expressed gratitude for the collaboration with the New Hampshire law enforcement agencies, emphasizing their commitment "to reexamining old cases and acting on any new leads."
Redden, then 37 years old, mysteriously vanished the day of the Boston Marathon bombings, a detail that her family fears may have overshadowed her case amidst the chaos of the time. The search area, a private property off Small Road on Ayers Pond, was once connected to Redden's boyfriend who has since passed away. "I hope that she'd be alive, but the realist in me says no," Redden's sister, Amy Robinson, confided to NBC Boston, expressing a mixture of hope and grief.
According to Boston 25 News, the search deployed a variety of resources including K-9 units, drones, and the state police major crime unit vans. While the DA's office confirmed that the search had concluded without the discovery of remains and there would be no return to the property, the case remains active.
Neighbors and the current owner of the property expressed surprise at the search, with the owner having acquired the land only seven months ago. Redden's family, still waiting on closure, holds onto hope that the investigation will yield something tangible to solve the enigma of Leanne's fate. Amy Robinson reflected that "this is just the beginning and hopefully we can get some answers and some closure," a sentiment shared by the family and echoed in a report by WCVB.
