Chandler's neighborhood watch groups who have demonstrated an earnest effort in promoting community engagement are now called upon to step forward for recognition. As reported on the City of Chandler's official news center, nominations for the Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards are being sought. These awards aim to honor the commitment of local leaders and groups in hosting effective Getting Arizona Invoked in Neighborhoods (G.A.I.N.) events. Nominations are being accepted until July 26, and interested parties can submit their entries through the Chandler Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards website.

Contenders for the awards are split into two separate avenues of appreciation. Winners of the Mayor’s Choice Award will be chosen personally by Mayor Hartke, according to the City of Chandler, Arizona. When it comes to the People’s Choice Award, heartstrings are tugged as the public will cast their digital ballots to make their preferred neighborhood efforts shine from July 29 through 5 p.m. August 12. These votes will be tallied at the same website where nominations are submitted.

The anticipation will culminate on September 14 during the G.A.I.N. kickoff event. Set within the confines of community camaraderie at the Chandler Police Main Station community room, the victors will be unveiled amidst neighbors and friends. For questions regarding the awards program or the subsequent G.A.I.N. event on October 19, individuals may hold on the lines to engage with Neighborhood Programs staff at 480-782-4348, or reach out to Crime Prevention Specialist Blanca Quezada at 480-782-4960, respectively.
