In a violence-stricken encounter early today, two men were shot, one fatally, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago. According to the Chicago Tribune, the victims were involved in an altercation around 4 a.m. in the 4900 block of West Madison Street when shots were fired from an individual in a silver Ford Explorer.
The 53-year-old man was pronounced dead after being taken to Stroger Hospital. Meanwhile, the other victim, a 39-year-old man who was struck in the thigh, got himself to the same hospital and was reported to be in fair condition. FOX 32 Chicago noted that two people were seen fleeing the scene in a Ford Explorer, but no arrests have been made as of yet.
Details surrounding the argument that led to the shooting have not been disclosed, and detectives from Area Four are leading the ongoing investigation.
No additional injuries were reported in the incident. With no suspects in custody, police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in a resolution of this case.
