
Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood was the scene of a violent day on Monday with two separate shootings occurring mere hours apart, leaving one man dead and five others wounded. According to CBS Chicago, the fatal incident took place around 3 p.m. in the backyard of a residence located on the 4100 block of West Cermak Road. A 37-year-old man succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head at the scene. Alongside him, a 34-year-old man suffered a leg injury, and a 26-year-old was shot in the chest and armpit. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and are reported to be in good condition.
Late in the afternoon, a second shooting rattled the 1200 block of South Lawndale Avenue. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that at approximately 6:30 p.m., a vehicle approached and occupants fired upon three males, striking a 15-year-old boy in the back, a 19-year-old man in the neck, and a 31-year-old man in the buttocks.
All victims were transported to the same hospital where the earlier shooting victims were being treated and were likewise listed in good condition, police said, as per the Chicago Sun-Times.
