In a troubling incident that has shaken Palo Alto, authorities are actively investigating the homicide of an elderly man, who was found deceased in a downtown parking garage last Thursday. According to the Palo Alto Police Department, the victim, who appeared to be part of the city's unhoused population, succumbed to blunt force trauma to the head following an autopsy's findings.
Reports state that the man's body was discovered after a call was received by the dispatch center at around 12:15 p.m., leading to officers and fire department personnel responding to the scene on the first floor of the parking garage located at the 400 block of Bryant Street. While the victim's identity remains unreleased by the department, the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner will handle the formal identification and inform the police department.
Before the autopsy confirmation, the death was treated with suspicion due to circumstances recorded at the scene. The investigative efforts now also include the help of a canine unit, searching for clues and traces that might offer a lead. Hoodline reports that no potential suspects have been disclosed by the police yet.
