The Palo Alto Police Department has called upon the public to assist in identifying a suspect linked to an apartment burglary on University Avenue, seeking information on a male who entered a residence while the occupants were asleep. As detailed by the Palo Alto Police Department, the incident took place last Saturday morning. It was reported to authorities around 9:50 a.m. after the female victim discovered her personal space breached and her possessions tampered with.
While the exact sequence of events remains unclear, it is understood that the victim and her roommate, who were both in the apartment during the burglary, sensed no disturbance throughout the night, leading to speculation that the intruder may have been particularly stealthy or familiar with the property and according to the release, no items have been reported missing despite the intrusion. Surveillance footage reviewed by officers revealed a suspect described as a light-skinned male, clad in a dark hooded jacket, light pants, and dark sneakers, lurking around the apartment at about 2:00 a.m., which suggests he could be connected to the unsettling violation of privacy experienced by the residents.
The Palo Alto Police Department is seeking any leads and has encouraged those with information not to hesitate to come forward. Calls can be directed to their 24-hour dispatch line at (650) 329-2413, while anonymous tips have the option of being emailed to [email protected] or submitted via text or voice message to (650) 383-8984.
