Kids in Peoria with a flair for storytelling have a new platform to showcase their talent. The Peoria Public Library system is open for submissions to its Peoria StoryWalks® Story Writing Contest, an initiative designed to promote literacy and physical activity through a unique format—integrating book pages into outdoor spaces for a read-and-walk experience. According to a recent announcement by the library, young authors between the ages of 6 and 12 are encouraged to submit original picture books, which could be featured across all three StoryWalks® locations in the city.
It's an opportunity for young minds to engage with their community and see their work in public spaces, such as parks and along nature trails, where learning meets the great outdoors. The competition is divided into three age brackets: 6-8, 9-10, and 11-12. Submissions need to be in by July 31.
