Peoria City Hall's own philanthropic venture, the Hanai Peoria City Hall Café, is ushering in the summer months with a pair of thirst-quenching, pocket-friendly specials sure to appeal to local coffee aficionados and casual café goers alike. As a venture that both serves the community and imbues former foster youth with valuable skills, Hanai is spicing up the season with wallet-friendly delights. According to an announcement on the City of Peoria's official website, these deals are both a steal and a heartfelt investment in the community's young adults.
Every Wednesday, or "Hump Day" as it is commonly referred to by the workweek weary, Hanai has concocted the "Hump Day Pick-Me-Up" deal, enticing customers with a choice of a fresh-brewed coffee, cold brew, or tea accompanied by a bagel, croissant, or donut, all for a mere $5. Hanai is not just a cafe but a place where every sip comes with a side of support for those stepping out of the foster system and into the world.
The café doesn’t let the momentum wane as Thursday rolls around, offering patrons the "Thirsty Thursday" special. Coffee lovers can score any two medium drinks for just $10 – an offer that's all about sharing, be it with a friend, a coworker, or perhaps a chance acquaintance met across the café's communal tables.
The Hanai initiative reflects its community spirit not just through its specials, but through its doors' very location – situated conveniently on the first floor of Peoria City Hall, 8401 W. Monroe St. Open to the public Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, it's the perfect spot for a morning energizer or an afternoon pick-me-up while contributing to an establishment that trains and employs young adults aging out of the foster care system. The café, taking a breather along with the rest of us, closes its doors on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
