Aspiring crooners in Phoenix looking to follow in the boot steps of country greats now have a stage to shine on—the Foley Ranch in Desert Ridge Marketplace has announced they'll be hosting the Rising Star Vocal Competition for country musicians starting July 30. The inaugural tune-tussle, to be held every Tuesday at 6 p.m., promises a blend of twang and talent by limiting its roster to 60 guitar-slinging vocalists, with an additional 10 on standby ready to step up to the microphone.
According to a Phoenix New Times article, the competition will croon on for nine weeks, with six preliminary rounds followed by two semi-finals, and concluding with a grand finale on Sept. 24. The structure will test the participants consistently, having them perform one song at the top of the evening, and another after they've taken a breather with the dance break at 7:30 p.m. The audience, alongside a panel of judges, will play a pivotal role in culling the competition each week.
"Live music is such an important part of the Foley Ranch experience, and we are so excited to be a part of finding the next generation of talent," owner Don Talbot said, as reported by Phoenix New Times. The lucky winner will score paid bookings and a chance to fine-tune their vocal prowess with a one-year development contract from DDP Worldwide.
To throw their Stetson into the ring, hopefuls must send an mp4 or MOV file showing off their vocal chops to Foley Ranch's website, complete with a headshot, contact details, and personal inspirations. In a bit of strategic planning, they must furnish a list of four songs to avoid any awkward on-stage repeats. Submissions will be judged, with those picked to perform being notified at least five days before taking the stage, as detailed by Your Valley.
