Residents of Plymouth, mark your calendars for a dash of fun and learning as the annual Kids Fest is set to take over the Hilde Performance Center on August 15th, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The city promises a family-friendly carnival atmosphere at 3500 Plymouth Blvd, where admission to the festivities will not cost a dime.
The lineup this year is bloated with a variety of activities — the STEAM Zone offers a hands-on mix of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, other attractions include sponsor activities, face painting - home to bountiful balloons, inflatables, and bounce houses, guaranteeing that children of all persuasions will find something to jump about. Moreover, those who fancy a bite or two will have their cravings satisfied by a spread of food trucks peddling an array of edibles and potables, as reported by the City of Plymouth’s announcement.
Musical entertainment for the event is set to resonate with Disney enthusiasts, featuring The Little Mermen, an acclaimed Disney tribute band known for their stirring renditions of nearly a century's worth of Disney classics, from "Under the Sea" to "Let It Go." Clad in Disney character garb, they're slated to perform their peppy set twice on the main stage at 5:30 p.m. and then again at 7:00 p.m., promising a melodious journey through the enchanting world of Disney.
The fest also offers a sprinkle of alternative entertainment as Dazzlin' Dave, a nationally recognized yo-yo master will be wandering about from 5:30 p.m. with his bag of tricks and subsequently takes to the small stage for an exclusive show at 6:30 p.m., according to the fest schedule. If Mother Nature decides to play spoilsport, concerned attendees can stay updated on the status of Kids Fest by ringing up the weather line provided by the city at 763-509-5205.
Community engagement seems to be at the heart of this venture with local businesses stepping up to back the event, evident with sponsors such as Kyle Vitense State Farm, Gateway Fiber, and Plymouth Lions Club in the roll call. For those already etching out their late-summer plans, or curiosity seekers interested in other community happenings, a list of future recreational events in Plymouth is up for grabs at the city's official website.
