
The Lloyd District Neighborhood in Portland became the scene of tragedy when a man was shot and later pronounced dead. The shooting occurred on July 28, and the Portland Police Bureau has since identified the victim as 45-year-old Jacob Forrest. Sorrow has been expressed by family members who have authorized the release of Forrest's photograph from his Washington ID. The photo is shared in hopes that witnesses or those with information will come forward.
Details surrounding the incident are sparse, but according to the Portland Oregon government website, the shooting took place early Sunday morning. Officers who responded to the shots fired at approximately 6:02 a.m. on Northeast 6th Avenue and Northeast Holladay Street discovered Forrest deceased on the sidewalk. The suspect, or possibly suspects, responsible for Forrest's death had fled the scene before authorities' arrival.
Forensic analysis led by the Medical Examiner confirmed Forrest's death as a homicide resulting from gunshot wounds, detectives Ryan Foote and Travis Law are the lead investigators.
