The circumstances surrounding the death of 22-year-old Riley Strain have been subject to a detailed private investigation, the results of which are now in the hands of his family. Steve Fischer, the private investigator hired by the Strain family, has completed his probe into the incident which has been a relentless quest for clarifications since March. In a statement published on NewsChannel5, Fischer stated that he's worked through over 100 hours of surveillance video from more than 20 cameras, alongside conducting a dozen witness interviews and consultations with multiple experts.
According to reports by WSMV, Fischer has found some discrepancies with the initial witness reports pertaining to Strain’s whereabouts on the night of his passing. Though the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has concluded that Strain died from accidental drowning, compounded by alcohol intoxication, and ruled the death as such, Fischer's findings suggest there may be more to the narrative. Strain, a University of Missouri student visiting Nashville with fraternity friends, reportedly fell into the Cumberland River after a night spent on Broadway.
Fischer, not being at liberty to divulge the detailed findings of his report, has nonetheless shared important pieces of the surveillance footage from the night of March 8th, providing a timeline of Strain's movements. He confirmed that after being kicked out of Luke Bryan's bar, Riley was alone and unsupported by claims of abduction or foul play, as noted in a statement obtained by NewsChannel5.
The extensive 281-page report, coupled with a 49-minute video presentation, details every conceivable angle Fischer examined, including interactions with the Tennessee Alcohol Bureau Commission and multiple medical experts. While the material compiled by Fischer presented following a thorough investigation, its contents have yet to be fully disclosed by the family. Strain's family, as the rightful custodians of the report, has the sole discretion on its public release, said Fischer in a detailed post on X.
