Ramsey County is setting aside one day this year to honor a public servant and a veteran. According to a recent announcement by the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners, July 23, 2024, is officially named Trista Martinson Day in recognition of Martinson's contributions to the community. Martinson, who has represented District 3 since 2019 and served as Board Chair from January 2022, is stepping down at the beginning of August to embark on a new professional chapter.
After 16 years of military service spanning the Navy, Marines, and Army-National Guard, Martinson transitioned to public office where she has worked to serve and uplift the residents of neighborhoods like North End, Como, and Payne-Phalen. Her tenure has been marked by an effort to advocate for constructive change and community development. However, with her resignation set for the end of business on August 1, 2024, the Board has chosen to swiftly celebrate her accomplishments.
In the interim, Martinson will be transitioning into the role of Executive Director of the Ramsey-Washington Recycling & Energy. This new position is anticipated not only to benefit her professional growth but to also further contribute to the betterment of Ramsey County through environmental and energy initiatives.
