San Antonio police are actively investigating a homicide after a body with multiple gunshot wounds was found on the city's north side, a discovery reported on Tuesday. According to KENS 5, the body was located in the grassy area of Highway 281 and Dick Friedrich Drive. Police arrived at the scene around 3:40 p.m. to begin their investigation into what they are considering a homicide case.
The victim, whose identity has yet to be confirmed, appeared to have been shot several times all over their body. Authorities estimate that the body had been left there for at least 24 hours to be eventually found by a passerby. SAPD Sgt. Ryan Edwards indicated that "several shell casings were found nearby," hinting at the gravity of the crime but without providing further insight into the potential circumstances or the identity of the shooter.
Further north along U.S. Highway 281, near Hildebrand Road, a separate report by FOX San Antonio mirrored the grim discovery. According to their coverage, a pedestrian walking in the area was the one to report the body to the authorities.
Upon the arrival of emergency services, it was confirmed that the victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The number of shell casings found at the scene totaled at least seven, corroborating a swift, violent encounter. The time frame provided by the police suggests that the shooting occurred less than 24 hours before the body was discovered, likely in the late night or early morning hours. No suspects have been identified, and the investigation is continuing to unfold as police attempt to piece together the events that led to this fatal incident.
