BART Police, working alongside the San Francisco Police Department, successfully ensured the safety of a teenager and apprehended a suspected kidnapper. The collaboration between the two agencies led to the swift resolution of a potentially harrowing episode.
A call to BART Police on Tuesday evening set off the search for a juvenile female allegedly taken by force from the Powell Street Station around 8:00 pm. The girl, described as being removed against her will by an adult male, was later seen being pulled into a vehicle by the suspect on surveillance footage. Shortly after the incident, the teen's parents filed a missing persons report.
Hours into the night, at approximately 3:00 am on Wednesday, the San Francisco Police located the suspect and a vehicle matching witness descriptions. As per the BART Police Department, 37-year-old Jamall Blue was taken into custody by BART Police. In a turn of events that marked a quick end to a frightening situation, the targeted teen was found and placed in the care of juvenile services.
