Last Wednesday, the San José Police Department (SJPD) nabbed 56-year-old San José resident Felix Arnaz for allegedly possessing a potentially catastrophic device after a bomb threat rattled a business locale on Ridder Park Drive. The threat, reported last Wednesday to the SJPD by the suspect himself, instigated an immediate deployment of patrol officers to the reported site at approximately 10:06 AM, where they discovered what seemed to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), according to the San José Police Department.
Stakes escalated as the SJPD's Bomb Squad and MERGE Unit were called onto the scene to evaluate the suspect device, which was concluded to be an uncompleted yet operative IED. The bomb squad successfully neutralized the potential threat, initiating a scrupulous inspection for other harmful contrivances; nonetheless, no additional devices turned up. Upon intensive investigative efforts by the MERGE Officers, Arnaz was pinpointed as the individual behind the alarming incident.
In what appeared to be a swift response, MERGE officers located and apprehended Arnaz while he was in his car at the intersection of Ruby Avenue and Aborn Road, and as a measure of persistent caution, surrounding businesses underwent evacuation during an examination of Arnaz's vehicle, which, fortunately, did not reveal the presence of more devices.
Subsequently, authorities have booked suspect Arnaz into the Santa Clara County Jail, with charges piling up against him for multiple counts related to the possession of what was assessed as a destructive device. The suspect now awaits the full weight of the judicial process as he navigates the implications of his alleged actions. In an ongoing call for public assistance, the SJPD urges anyone with substantive information about this case or similar instances to step forward and contact Detective Madera through the provided means.
The SJPD remains vigilant, encouraging the use of the P3TIPS mobile app for anonymous tip submission and reaching out to their tip line or online via the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers website. Incentive looms for those whose actionable intelligence culminates in an arrest, with the promise of a financial reward under the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers Program.
