The City of San Luis just got a little livelier for its younger residents, courtesy of a cool $10,000 boost from Campesinos Sin Frontera's Thrive Program. According to a recent announcement by the city, this cash injection is earmarked to amp up cultural and recreational activities for kids aged 11 to 18.
In the past, the Parks and Recreation Department had the resources to offer 200 free memberships for these community programs, each pegged at about a hundred bucks in value. Thanks to this latest sprinkle of fiscal love from the Thrive Program, an extension of that initiative is not just a pipe dream, but a reality. What’s more, it's set to enlarge its footprint and bring even more kids into the fold.
There's a creative twist in the tale, too. Turns out a slice of the donated dough is going to keep up the collaboration with the Campesinos Sin Fronteras San Luis Youth Leadership Institute, where local talent gets to splash their artistic expressions on murals across the city. It's part beautification effort, part youth empowerment; a mix that apparently has caught on quite well in this community.
"We are immensely grateful for the generosity extended by the Thrive Program and are enthusiastic about the significant positive impact this collaboration will foster among our young residents and the broader San Luis community," Angelica Roldan, director of Parks and Recreation, told the city's news page. She's evidently pumped about what's to come: "We look forward to continuing to work together!"
